The Sindh government has approved 500 new electric buses to operate under a public-private partnership model.
Naseer Ahmed, a member of MQM-Pakistan, stated in the Sindh Assembly that the Manghopir district doesn’t have public transportation. He also mentioned that he had previously raised his voice for the introduction of bus services in that area.
While addressing the Sindh Assembly, senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced the introduction of bus services in Orangi, Banaras, and other places. In an effort to broaden the bus network across Sindh, he said, three new routes are being launched, and new buses will also run on other routes.
He added that the government is addressing the concerns raised by lawmakers. According to him, the Sindh government has opened new routes in Tando Allahyar, Khairpur, and Rohri and approved 500 new electric vehicle (EV) buses. Additionally, a new route has been launched from Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Maymar.
