The “She Threads” initiative has been launched with the aim of providing women working in the textile industry access to better opportunities for employment and modern professional skills. Middle-pass women from rural Punjab who are between the ages of 18 and 45 are eligible to apply for the program.

According to officials, women undergoing training would also receive a transportation allowance and a monthly stipend of PKR 15,000 so they can complete their professional training without difficulties.

Ten different training courses related to the textile sector have been introduced under the “She Threads” program. Numerous women are benefiting from these classes, which are already been effectively offered in Lahore, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, and Faisalabad.

Statistics show that over 2,500 women completed training in the last two years, and 773 of them found employment right away, highlighting the program’s effectiveness.

According to officials, 1,150 women are currently enrolled in different textile courses, and 1,350 more women will join the program the next year.

Among the various fields covered in the training courses are Industrial Stitching Machine Operator, Fabric Quality Inspector, Fabric Cutting Expert, Apparel Planning and Merchandising, Apparel Supervisor, Pattern Making and Cutting, Pattern Drafting and Grading, Quality Control, Garment Finishing, Packing, and Garment Warehousing.

Making every woman financially independent and empowered is one of the government’s key priorities, according to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. According to her, educated women can contribute significantly to the national economy in addition to improving their families’ financial circumstances. She claims that skilled women have a wide range of job options in the textile industry.

A budget of PKR 310 million has been set aside for the “She Threads” initiative, which was introduced to support rural women’s skill development and economic empowerment under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
