For nearly six decades, one man has been a continuous symbol of support for Pakistan cricket through every victory and heartbreak.

Abdul Jalil — known around the world as Chacha Cricket — devoted his life to supporting the national team at stadiums. He became more than just a spectator — he became part of Pakistan cricket’s identity by wearing his green outfit, waving the Pakistan flag, and spreading energy among fans.

For the Pakistan team, Chacha Cricket created memorable slogans like, “Waqt ki yeh majboori hai, chouka bohat zaroori hai”, “Out karo bhai out karo, jaldi jaldi out karo” and “Chachay di gall mann ke khelo, jamm ke khelo, jamm ke khelo.” These energetic slogans became popular among cricket fans and were often heard in stadiums during Pakistan matches.

However, the slogans he made for foreign teams became even more famous because they also carried a positive message: “Cricket is for enjoy, not for tension.” and Cricket is for love, not for fight.”

During Pakistan’s One-Day International against Australia at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Tuesday evening, the incredible era that began in 1969 came to an end when the 77-year-old announced his retirement from live stadium performances. He revealed that age-related health issues have forced him to make the tough decision to step away from stadium appearances.

Pakistani fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi gave him a retirement cake and an autographed commemorative jersey in recognition of his lifetime contributions. Fans widely praised the act, viewing it as a fitting tribute to a guy who devoted his life to promoting Pakistani cricket.

Chacha Cricket hopes to establish a museum where he can display the countless memories, souvenirs, and moments he collected throughout his lifetime as Pakistan cricket’s most passionate fan. While Chacha Cricket may no longer be present in the stadiums, he leaves behind an empty seat that might never be replaced and a legacy that will always be a part of Pakistani cricket history.
