A comprehensive cleanliness plan for Eid-ul-Adha was prepared during a video-link meeting presided over by CM Maryam Nawaz. The chief minister of Punjab approved a fine of Rs 50,000 for anyone caught disposing of offal and animal remains in residential areas and on the streets.

Maryam Nawaz also ordered officials to launch a public awareness campaign to stop people from discarding animal waste in forbidden places. She further instructed special cleaning and monitoring measures for drains, canals, and other public places in all the cities.

The CM advised that cleanliness be maintained in private housing societies, railway colonies, and cantonment areas during Eid-ul-Adha. She also directed the cleanliness of 2,687 main commercial markets in Punjab.

Maryam Nawaz declared that all departments should work together as a single government unit to maintain cleanliness during Eid-ul-Adha, adding that good performance would be rewarded while complaints and negligence would result in accountability.

During the meeting, Maryam Nawaz was informed that a vigilance squad had been established to monitor cleanliness, biodegradable shopping bags would be provided for the disposal of animal remains, and 176,000 sanitary workers along with 8,000+ temporary staff members would take part in the Eid cleanliness campaign.

The briefing further revealed that 3,800 primary collecting centers and 3,100 dumping sites have been set aside for animal waste and remains. 7,000 dumping places will be created throughout the province. Under the Suthra Punjab Eid operation, 4,500 special camps and over 40,000 more vehicles would be deployed.

Loader rickshaws, small dumpers, tractor-trolleys, and pickup vehicles will be employed for this cleanliness operation. Citizens can also contact the Suthra Punjab helpline at 1139 for assistance. Special arrangements have also been made to assure the operation’s success.
