A severe heatwave continues across the country, with temperatures considerably above normal across Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan’s plains and urban areas. According to the Meteorological Department, the extreme heat is predicted to last till June 12 throughout the majority of the country’s plain areas, including Punjab.
According to the department, the daytime temperatures may be 5 to 7 degrees Celsius above normal in lower parts and 4 to 6 degrees Celsius higher than average in upper regions.
It is predicted that the temperature in Islamabad, will reach 41°C. In the meantime, the heat intensity in Karachi could reach 50°C due to humid weather and weak winds, making life quite challenging for locals. The regions of Sibi and Turbat in Balochistan have already experienced temperatures of 49°C and 48°C, respectively.
For residents who are suffering from the extreme heat, there is some good news. The Meteorological Department predicts rain, thunder, and lightning on June 11 and 12 in several Punjab districts, including Rawalpindi and Lahore, as well as Islamabad, northern Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar, Swat, and the Balochistan districts of Zhob and Musa Khel.
Additionally, rainfall is expected to start on June 12 in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir. Authorities have warned citizens to avoid excessive exposure to direct sunlight and to take precautions during the heatwave.
