Submarine cables are a major component of Pakistan’s global internet network. Since the country remains connected to the rest of the world through these cables, any malfunction in them directly impacts internet connectivity and speed.

According to a statement issued by PTCL, the SMW-4 submarine cable repair work has been started today and will continue until April 20. During this period, internet services may be affected, especially in the evening hours.

Users may experience slow internet speeds or temporary outages. Online workers, freelancers, and companies may encounter serious challenges due to this disruption.

It is expected that once the repair work is finished, consumers will have improved connectivity and internet services will resume as usual.
